Job Title: Build/release Engineer
Location: Irvine, CA
Duration: 12 months
Rate: $58/hr c2c
Locals or near by & G.C (or) US Citizen (or) EAD only ;
Interview process: Involves In person interview with Hiring Manager and team members (60 min).
Job Responsibilities:
· Support, troubleshoot and debug build processes/systems/tools used to support several websites for the American Funds primary lines of business: Shareholder, Intermediary (for Financial Advisors), and Retirement Planning
· Create and maintain automated build systems, integrate build/test/release processes, and control deployments to multiple environments
· Manage software bundle & deployment for various new development and maintenance code releases
· Manage the deployment and build configurations for Development, Stage/QA (test) and production environments
· Create, document, and implement procedures related to builds and deployments
· Partner with Web Administrators and Web Architects to manage the non-production and production environments (Unix & Windows platforms)
· Identify opportunities to improve existing work flows & tools to optimize the build & release deployment processes
· Coordinate build/deployment schedules between Development teams, DBAs and Web Administrators
· Acquire, maintain & provide expertise necessary to integrate new projects to the existing platform
· Provide technical guidance to the Release Management team
· Assist in specification, design, and implementation of new product features and enhancements
Must Have Skills:
· Excellent knowledge of SDLC processes
· Strong knowledge of build system concepts
· Working knowledge with common build tools – Ant, Make and scripting languages such as Shell, Perl, is required.
· Perl scripting
· Shell scripting
· Solid understanding of UNIX environment and network technology (Symlinks, NAS devices, NFS/CIFS mounting)
· Knowledge/experience with Windows platform
· Good knowledge of databases (Oracle)
· Good understanding of Web Architecture
· Experience in software engineering methodologies, release engineering and configuration management using a mainstream SCM Tool in a commercial product environment (i.e. ClearQuest/ClearCase or like tools)
· Familiarly with WebLogic administration (or other App Server – WebSphere, etc.)
· Supporting external facing production web sites requiring 24 x 7 x 365 availability
· Working knowledge of search engines (i.e., Ultraseek)
· Working knowledge of streaming media (i.e. Flash)
Nice to Have Skills:
· Experience with agile development methodologies
· Working experience in the financial services industry
· Experience with Java development and/or Ant scripting
· Experience with software packaging tool (i.e. Red Hat Package Manager)
· Experience in workflow design and process re-engineering
· Project management experience
